SmartSensor™: How It Works
Depending on soil moisture content, SmartSensor™ decides whether to suspend watering before a programmed cycle or allow watering to occur until moisture levels are sufficient. If the cycle is initially bypassed, watering may resume during that cycle or at the next cycle when the soil moisture content has dropped below a sufficient level. In the case of a rain event, watering may still occur if sufficient moisture levels are not met. SmartSensor™ eliminates the guess work of how much water to apply.

The Smart Sensor™ installation process causes minimal disruption to your business and turf and great care is taken to ensure your turf is returned to its original condition. At the end of the installation process, you receive a GPS map of the Smart Sensor™ irrigation system.
The Smart Sensor™ is simply buried in the ground and connected at specific depths between the sprinkler head valves via the field wiring in your irrigation system. Operating on a per-valve basis, meaning every zone gets exactly the right amount of water, the Smart Sensor™ allows irrigation only if the specific area of soil needs water and maintains soil moisture uniformity across the various zones of an irrigation system.
While most irrigation systems water based on a time-schedule and don't account for environmental conditions, Smart Sensor™ directly measures the soil moisture level to control the irrigation process. By measuring soil saturation, Smart Sensor™ allows irrigation systems to dispense only the exact amount of water needed in order to prevent both over and under watering. When enough moisture is detected by Smart Sensor™, watering is suspended until soil moisture is lost.
